Campagnolo Pronunciation

Campagnolo Spoken HereFrom the ‘what’s up with that’ file, for some reason a large number of people end up here after having Googled ‘campagnolo pronunciation’, or something similar.

Lest I be remiss in providing a full service cycling blog, and let the side down, I’ll give it a go…

In the US everyone seems to want to shorten it to ‘campy’, which, given the nature of the association with camp, and a person being ‘campy’ as it relates to that description, I don’t know that I’m entirely a fan.

But, I’m guilty of using ‘campy’ as well…

I have it on good authority that French riders refer to the company as ‘campa’…

The Brits pronounce their shortened version ‘campag’, with a hard g on the end.

The Italian lady here pronounces it cam pan yo lo, or something like that…
